Critical Hunting And Camping Gear

As outdoor activities go, hunting and camping often go hand in hand. Many dedicated hunters keep camps that they visit over a weekend or even over a whole week. For both hunting and camping the gear is very important, since missing a critical piece of gear can ruin a trip. Similarly, just the right hunting and camping gear can make the trip go that much smoother. If you're planning a trip, whether it's to shoot at deer or ducks, start planning on bringing along the right hunting and camping gear. Here are a few things that you should choose carefully:

A Good Pack

One of the most necessary pieces of hunting and camping gear is a good pack of some sort. When you're camping, you need something to carry all your essentials while hiking to your camping spot, and while you're hunting, you want to have something to carry everything you'll need while trying to get a good kill. The key is to find a piece of hunting and camping gear that can handle both tasks equally well. For hunting, this often means packs with rattle-free zippers, places to hold hunting supplies, and even game that's been cut up. However, a pack should still sit as easily on the shoulders as one made for solely for camping.

Knives And Tools

Any good set of hunting and camping gear will have a good knife or even a set of knives included. A knife is an essential tool when camping, capable of trimming down sticks for tinder and kindling, cutting rope and cloth when needed, and a multitude of other tasks. However, when purchasing hunting and camping gear, you want more than just a Swiss Army knife. You need something large, sharp, and capable of skinning the animals you bag if need be. And if you still want something that folds out into pliers, a screwdriver, wire cutters, and an assortment of other tools, a good folding multi-tool such as the popular Leatherman line of multi-tools will fit compactly in your backpack and go well with your skinning knife.

First Aid Kit

One piece of hunting and camping gear that no one should ever be without is a first aid kit. A first aid kit is your only line of protection if there's a mishap while out in the wilderness, and can help prevent a disaster from getting any worse, allowing you to treat injuries and ailments until you can get the person afflicted out to where they can receive medical attention. It also ensures that minor injuries don't become larger problems that detract from your trip. A good first aid kit should contain at least bandages, medicine such as aspirin, and some disinfectant; a great first aid kit will have even more. As with the other hunting and camping gear we've gone over, the reason you want this is to be prepared, and if you are, you'll have a successful trip.
